Acting President Delcy Rodríguez welcomed delegation from the Republic of Colombia

The Acting President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, welcomed the Minister of Mines and Energy of the Republic of Colombia, Edwin Palma Egea, in the «Sol del Perú» Hall of Miraflores Palace, to hold a working meeting in which they addressed issues of interest to both nations.

It is relevant to highlight that the President in charge spoke on February 18 through a telephone contact with the President of the Republic of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, in which they agreed on an upcoming binational meeting at the level of heads of state, with the main objective of continuing to advance in economic, energy and security matters.

These diplomatic relations and brotherhood between Venezuela and Colombia have been based on the strengthening of cooperation and relations of the highest level of respect and joint work between both countries; and to maintain this way the impulse of relationships of understanding and shared benefits.

On the other hand, it is of interest to note that the binational roadmap between Venezuela and Colombia has also consolidated towards this 2026, the reopening of the border and the opening of consulates, thus impulsing the economic integration in the states Táchira, Zulia and the North Santander region.

Strengthening of the Binational Zone:

In 2022 was established the creation of a «Binational Zone One» with the New Granadean Nation. This area extends from Castilletes, in northern Colombia, to Táchira state, in southwest Venezuela.

This initiative arose with the purpose of using the common border to strengthen security, trade and movement of people from one side of the border to the other; in order to consolidate a powerful zone of peace, coexistence and Colombian-Venezuelan union.

The head of the mining and energy portfolio of Colombia was accompanied by a delegation with experience in different areas of interest for both countries.
