During the ceremony of Judicial Term Start for 2026, the acting President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, warned about the progressive breakdown of international legality, citing as an irrefutable proof the military aggression suffered by Venezuela last January 3.
Rodríguez described the external attack and the kidnapping of the Head of State and the First Combatant Woman as an unprecedented violation of global norms: «What happened that morning is proof that the world is being left without the rule of law”, asserted the dignitary, linking this situation to other global crises such as the genocide in Palestine.
Tribute to resistance and sovereignty:
In her speech, the dignitary paid a heartfelt tribute to the Venezuelan and Cuban combatants who lost their lives fighting the military incursion by the US: «Honor and glory to those who defended international legality under conditions of unequality, fighting in the name of the Great Homeland,» she said emotionally.
Support for institutional continuity:
The Acting President thanked the firmness of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) for guaranteeing the administrative continuity of the State and protecting the Constitution against the external aggression. She emphasized that the Judicial Branch has remained as the main guarantor of national sovereignty in this unprecedented conjuncture for the Republic.
