The Acting President of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, made a call for national unity, urging all political sectors to prioritize the country’s sovereignty over partisan differences. The message was delivered from Miraflores Palace in Caracas during a the notification act for the beginning of the new Legislative Period.
Rodríguez formally received a delegation from the National Assembly to give a start to what she described as a paradigm shift in Venezuelan politics. The Acting President extended a direct invitation to opposition figures, among them Timoteo Zambrano, Bernabé Gutiérrez, José Brito, Antonio Ecarri, and Stalin González: «I want to welcome you to a new political moment for our country,» she affirmed before the Parliament’s Board of Directors.
Rodríguez emphasized that the current situation demands national independence to be put as a superior virtue, placed «above any national public power.» She insisted on that political action must be unified under a single criterion of territorial and sovereign defense, in the face of an «unprecedented political situation.»
«I invite you to take hold of this political moment for the rapprochement of all Venezuelan men and women, so that we understand that the only north there must be in our political actions must be Venezuela,» declared the Acting President during the historic meeting.
The Acting President concluded by reinforcing that the common objective must be to defend the legacy of Independence of the liberators, positioning this dialogue between the Executive and Legislative branches as the necessary step to safeguard the country’s integrity.
